Man's journey through life

The glittering ore of miserliness,
the strange ornament of lust.

knows his way to the grave.
The need to die he knows,
but not the way.

If you are interested in Mythology then Joseph Campbell would be worth investigating. He is one of the foremost mythologists of our time...responsible for much of Star Wars' creation. Just like the mermaid, a symbol half-human...half-beast, mythological creatures, such as centaurs, sphinxes, minotaurs, etc. represent our dual nature.
Our soul is asleep...
unless we awaken it...it is up to you!
One way to do this is through Nietzsche's dithyrambic madness explored in his classic essay entitled The Birth of Tragedy. I recommend it highly in order to find a thorough understanding of what Art can do for our wakening consciousness and our unexplored unconscious.
